Student Government Association

Demopolis High School takes pride in our Student Government Association.  This group exemplifies leadership which permeates every area of our school, both academics and extra-curricular.  They are very active in community service as well.
Student Council enjoys seeing homecoming come together each year.  They are in charge of the theme, bonfire, court, and parade.  This year's theme of "A Legendary Homecoming" was challenging but exciting for them.  They broke the tradition of the homecoming court and added guys to the court this year with King Arthur's Knights of the Round Table to attend Queen Guinevere's Ladies in Waiting.  They crowned both a homecoming queen and king!  They hope to continue to bring new ideas to both homecoming and other school activities.
This year's council is on the Alabama Student Council Association State Board serving as Parliamentarian school.  They are in charge of elections for next year's officers and board at state conference.  They are also responsible as a host school to provide refreshments for the advisors at conference - they realize the importance of keeping teachers happy!
Student Council has raised money this year to attend state conference.  They have put on a car wash, sold Valentine's raffle tickets, and held numerous bake sales.
Student Council takes philanthropy seriously.  They have worked very hard to support ASCA's conference charity for this year.  This year's conference features the Make-a-Wish foundation as the chosen philanthropy.  Student Council raised $350 selling blue stars and bake sales to support this wonderful organization.  Student Council also participated in purchasing gifts for underprivileged children at Christmas.  They were able to purchase both a boy and girl motorized ride-along toy.  They were proud to be a part of making wishes come true, just as they are excited about presenting the child from Make-a-Wish with his wish at conference!
